This type of prayer includes songs, readings and shared silence in an atmosphere of simplicity and tranquility.  To this prayer we bring the needs of our loved ones and our world that we may all be transformed by the love of Christ.  Join us in Our Lady of Angels Chapel.

Women's Awareness Salon:  Seeing the Sacred in the Ordinary

9:30 a.m.-12:00 noon
Join this monthly circle to discover the sacredness and beauty in your everyday life.  The focus will be on developing a healthy relationship to the physical world while honoring the inherent spirituality that is present in all that we are and do.  Each month we will have a different theme.  The circle will open with prayer, followed by a guest speaker, a facilitated discussion, and a closing meditation/song.  Come, take your place in our circle.

Spiritual Direction:  Is It for You?

Do you want to deepen your relationship with God?  Have you heard about spiritual direction and wondered if it is for you?  We invite you to meet with a member of our retreat team to consider these and other questions you may have.  This morning or evening session will include Centering Prayer, praying with scripture and a process for helping you find a spiritual director.

Ongoing T'ai Chi Chih
- Monthly:  beginning January 12, through May 10, 2012
7:00-8:15 p.m.
During these monthly sessions, participants will refine their movements and explore the relationship between T'ai Chi Chih and real life situations as they learn ways to enhance their TCC practice.  The movements may help to reduce stress, improve overall health, increase concentration and creativity, and lead to an appreciation of the interconnectedness of all things.  Wear comfortable clothing.

Heart Speaks to Heart:  A Retreat for Married Couples

The union of husband and wife with God and each other is an intimate community of life.  Couples joined in the sacrament of marriage have the grace to embrace God's heart and each other's heart.  Through sacred scripture, sharing, prayer and discussion, couples will encounter more deeply and celebrate the mystery that reveals the heart of God and the heart of each other.  Consider giving each other the gift of this evening--a great way to celebrate Valentine's day!

Celebrating Clare of Assisi:
Illustrating Her differing Roles in the Tradition That Bears Her Name

Palm Sunday 2012 will mark the 800th Anniversary of Clare of Assisi's becoming the first Franciscan woman.  The early tradition associated with Clare was shaped by the Font of Life she authored and the Rules and Constitutions promulgated by three popes.  Exploring how a tradition functions as idol, token, and icon provides a framework to analyze Clare's role in her tradition, a role arising from the original Franciscan inspiration and the effects of papal oversight of the 13th century Poor Sisters.

Sarah's Laugh:  Joy, Humor and Laughter in the Spiritual Life

Who says that being religious means being gloomy all the time?  Father James Martin, a Jesuit priest and bestselling author, will show us how the lives of the saints point us to living Christian lives of joy, and why laughter and humor are essential elements of a healthy spiritual life and need to be part of our prayer.  All this and some great jokes, too!

Focusing I

If you want to be more deeply connected with yourself, live more fully in the present, and become a compassionate listener to yourself, to others, and to God, Focusing is a way of paying attention to the hidden wisdom that lies within your own body.  In Level 1, you will receive training, support and practice in the basic skills of Inner Relationship, skills that you can use again and again.  You will learn how to sort out emotions and reactions so that they make sense and you can journey with meaning through your own life experiences.

Yoga

The practice of yoga brings one to union, harmony, and peace.  During these sessions Basic Hatha Yoga will be presented.  Relaxation techniques, classical postures and stretching with emphasis on deep breathing will be included.

Clare of Assisi's Unconditional Response to a World of Violence:
The Embrace of Radical Poverty 

-March 20, 2012
5:15-8:00 p.m.
Clare of Assisi lived in a world full of violence.  This program will explore Clare's response to this world of violence by focusing on key episodes in her life:  Clare's peaceful resistance to her family's violent opposition to her adoption of a Franciscan lifestyle, her heroic role in the defense of Assisi as the city faced attack by enemy forces, and her insistence on embracing a simple life of absolute poverty in spite of papal opposition. Through these encounters with violence, Clare models for us a transforming peaceful presence and offers insights regarding an appropriate Christian response to the violence of our own world.

Celtic Spirituality:  "Journey of a Celtic Heart"

5:30-8:00 p.m.
You are invited to take a symbolic pilgrimage of the heart to the sacred places on your own soul's journey.  This pilgrimage will be inspired by Celtic themes, Celtic saints and sacred sites in Ireland.  It will be presented in a reflective atmosphere with song, meditation, ritual and gentle movement.  Carmel Boyle's evocative songs and healing voice have a capacity to draw the listener into a sacred space with.
