In the spirit of St. Francis's appreciation for solitude, we
are pleased to offer 5 single-dwelling hermitages on land adjacent to
Clare House.
A hermitage is a small, single dwelling that provides
solitude and quiet so a person can enter into contemplative
prayer.
Our hermitages are characterized by simple beauty, built in
an ecologically sensitive design that emphasizes our belief
that the earth should be respected as a precious gift from
God.

Designed as a single 17' x 17' room, each
hermitage offers an area for contemplation, eating, sleeping,
and bathing, as well as a private porch for outdoor reflection
and prayer.

In addition to private time spent in
a hermitage, we offer persons opportunities to experience
contemplative time as envisioned by St. Francis of
Assisi. These solitude experiences are scheduled at
various times throughout the year.
Private solitude time:
Day only: $20
Overnight: $30 per night
